😭 cripple的本意是使跛, 受伤致残；可以形容严重削弱, 使陷于瘫痪。
cripple拿来影响经济，那经济也是积重难返难以前行咯。
✏️ 动词的话，《经济学人》写过：
The Soviet side also knew that the cost of maintaining nuclear weapons was crippling the economy.
苏联方面也知道，维持核武器的成本正在损害经济。
