Officials say the police and military are using drones armed with weapons to strike suspected gang members in the capital, Port-au-Prince. But these attacks are hitting more than just gangs. According to the UN, at least 559 people have been killed this year, including 11 children. In one drone strike, even a birthday party full of kids was bombed, killing 8 of them. UN human rights chief Volker Turk said most of these strikes are “likely illegal” because they go too far and don’t follow international law.
